What this paper is about

Edit What this paper is about Content

Tēnā koutou, tēnā tātou katoa. Nau mai haere mai ki tēnei pepa, ki tēnei kaupapa.

Greetings and welcome to this paper and this subject.

In this paper, we are inspired and guided by the whakatauākī:

He aha te mea nui o te ao?

He tangata! He tangata! He tangata!

What is the most important thing in the world?

It is people? It is people! It is people!

In the first half of this trimester, students will develop an understanding about some of the key health issues that are of concern for our nation, our communities, and certain populations - and their descendants - and the contribution of health promotors and promotions towards achieving healthy lifestyles and healthy communities. In the second half of the trimester, working in groups, students will then apply that understanding to deliver presentations with a workshop element designed to inform and support health promoters and health practitioners. There will be a number of guest speakers in this paper and the assessments have been designed to encourage students to participate and engage with our manuhiri and each other.

Nō reira, kia kaha, kia māia, kia mānawanui

Be strong, Be brave, Be committed

How this paper will be taught

Edit How this paper will be taught Content
This paper is taught over 12 weeks and the classes are face to face. However, should the lecturer need to isolate, the classes will be delivered online either as pre-recordings or live Zoom classes. If students need to isolate, and are well enough, they can attend the in-person classes via Zoom. The lectures and workshops will include guest speakers, group discussions, and research tasks - attendance is therefore important and critical to passing this paper. If for any reason you fall behind, please contact the lecturer asap.
